Conservation Tip

Appliances account for about 13 percent of your home’s energy use. If they have energy-saving settings, use them! If they’re nearing voting age, consider replacing them with a new, energy-efficient model. And remember to try smart power strips for smaller appliances and electronics that continue to draw power even when turned off. For more tips, visit EnergySavers.gov. An Electrifying Read

There's no better way to teach children than by telling a story. And we’ve got a good one to tell. It’s called Josh and Sarah’s Electric Adventure.

The story follows three characters on a family field trip that explains what needs to happen to turn on a light switch. It’s part history, part tutorial and always engaging. It’s also an award-winning book.

In May 2007, the Council of Rural Electric Communicators and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association recognized the book for “best special publication” in the 2007 national spotlight on excellence awards.
