Friends & Family Night returns! Get in on the savings at Sears October 3 and 4.
This promotion will save you $125 on ENERGY STAR refrigerators and $75 on ENERGY STAR clothes washers (recycling is required for your old fridge). Purchases must be made between September 1 and October 31...not before or after these dates to qualify for the specified discounts.
Watch for coupons in your September energy statement and use the coupons at Sears stores in Minnesota.
But wait! You may want to hold off until October 3 or 4 and use those coupons in conjunction with Friends & Family Night at Sears. The store will be offering additional discounts in addition to your coupons for this special one-day store event. Keep your coupons in a safe spot and remember to bring them with you when shopping at Sears. .jpg)
Friends & Family Night will be held Sunday, October 3 at the Duluth Sears store in Miller Hill Mall from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sears stores in Grand Rapids, Hibbing and Virginia will hold Friends & Family Night during regular business hours on Monday, October 4. If shopping at a different location in Minnesota, visit www.mnbrighterideas.com for store hours.
If purchasing a new fridge, the old one must be recycled in order to qualify for the discounts. Sears will give free delivery, but first you'll pay the standard $65 upfront delivery fee (fees may vary). Then Sears will give you the option of receiving the delivery fee back in the form of a rebate with either a Sears Gift Card or a MasterCard debit card.
It's a win-win. You'll save money on your purchase, plus you'll save energy for years after the promotion! Know the facts on energy savings.
Other Shopping Options
If you don't shop at Sears you won't need the coupons. Your discount will come by completing Lake Country Power's rebate form.
You may shop at other local retailers in Lake Country Power's service area for ENERGY STAR refrigerators and/or clothes washers and receive the same discount. You will need to save your receipt to submit to Lake Country Power with this specific APPLIANCE REBATE FORM.
Rebate forms must be received at Lake Country Power within 60 days of the purchase date. In order to qualify for the rebate, you must also show proof that your old refrigerator has been recycled. Your rebate will come as a credit to your energy bill.

LED Holiday Lights Promotion
November 1 - December 24, 2010
Details about this promotion will be posted this fall. In the mean time, this FACT SHEET provides information about LEDs. A preview of the promotion is also available.
Compact Fluorescent Lights... Save Energy
Each CFL contains approximately five milligrams of mercury, enough to cover the tip of a pen. In Minnesota it is illegal to place fluorescent and high-intensity discharge lamps in the garbage. You can now recycle your used CFLs for free at any Menards store in Minnesota. Or visit this page for other recycling options.
How to Choose the Right CFL and other Facts
Before you purchase new CFL lighting fixtures, these two fact sheets may provide some help before making your purchases: How to Choose the Right CFL and Wattage Comparisons.
For more information about CFLs, check out this general FACT SHEET.
Recycle your CFLs - It's the Law
Even though compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) contain a small amount of mercury (5 milligrams or less), Minnesota state law requires they be recycled and not thrown in the trash. Now co-op members can take their CFLs to Menards for free recycling!
