We are happy to announce that the Lake Country Power lobbies which closed because of COVID-19 in March 2020 will reopen for member business on August 2, 2021. it will be very nice to see members in person again!

Our commitment to our members

At Lake Country Power we are committed to supplying our members with reliable electric service during the uneasy times being created by the COVID-19 pandemic.  As the world witnesses the continuing impact of the coronavirus outbreak, we are taking precautionary steps to help keep our members and employees safe.

Effective at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, Lake Country Power is elevating its pandemic preparedness plan to Level 2 – Moderate Risk. The Moderate Risk response includes the following actions:

  • Access to Lake Country Power facilities will be restricted to employees only unless there is a critical business need.

  • Our service center lobbies will be closed but business will resume. Lobby kiosks will remain open.

  • Employees will be asked to observe some or all of the following prevention mechanisms: Using alternatives to face-to-face meetings; increasing distance between persons; modifying, postponing or canceling selected public gatherings to promote social distancing; and modifying workplace schedules and practices as appropriate.

  • Frequency of communication to members will be increased, including current and future plans related to the pandemic response.

Because of the potential disruption a pandemic could have on operations, Lake Country Power has enacted a pandemic preparedness plan to aid in supplying adequate staff, keeping the community safe and making sure electric service is maintained.

COVID-19 Preparedness Plan

Posted March 17, 2020

In response to the ongoing spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and the best interests of our members’ safety, health and well-being, Lake Country Power’s service centers are temporarily closed to the public until further notice.

As of 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2020, we have elevated our pandemic plan to a Level 2 - Moderate Risk level due to concern over the spread of COVID-19.

As providers of an essential service, our role is critical, and we need our employees to remain healthy so they can provide the essential services our members need. Lake Country Power is taking extra precautions — such as closing its doors — to protect the health and well-being of our employees.

Payments: Members will still be able to make payments at the drop boxes that are on-site, the kiosk in the entryway of our service centers, through their SmartHub accounts, by phone, or through regular U.S. mail.

Outages: If members experience a power outage, please report it as usual and we will dispatch our linemen to make the repairs as usual.

We are closely monitoring the coronavirus outbreak and are prepared to transition our pandemic plan to the highest risk level if necessary. We are currently following all Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) guidelines as it relates to the prevention and mitigation against COVID-19.

We do not wish to disconnect service to members during this time. Please contact us to make payment arrangements if you are facing a financial hardship at 800-421-9959.

Rest assured we are committed to supplying our members with safe and reliable electric service during the uneasy times being created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mitigation steps taken by employees

Updated March 31, 2020

Some of the mitigation steps Lake Country Power has in place, include:

  • The same two-man crews are working together at all times while also using the same trucks to avoid cross contamination.
  • When possible, the two-man crews are separated even further by driving different trucks individually.
  • Crews are assigned to work separate substations for social distancing, and once at the job site they continue to use social distancing from one another and co-op members.
  • Crews are using rubber gloves. They also use disinfecting wipes to clean surfaces, including gas pumps.
  • Warehouse personnel set equipment outside the building for line crews to pick up for their job assignments.
  • Crews are going as far as to isolate themselves from family when family members have medical needs that could expose the linemen to a quarantine situation.
  • Crews are making personal sacrifices to cancel trips, vacations, etc., to make sure they are available to work on members’ behalf.
